KayAnne

KayAnne

I’m not sure this girl can get any cuter.  Here are a few of my favorite shots of little KayAnne from our recent photoshoot at her grandparents’ orchard.  She had three outfits–a pink and green jumper, a green shirt paired with a gray skirt, and the most adorable flamingo outfit I have ever seen. I could not get enough of the flouncy pink tutu! A pre-shoot shot of KayAnne in grandma’s red wagon with her favorite book. Mommy is pulling her. In the orchard. KayAnne picked a clover for me! Nothing goes together as sweetly as pink tutus and handmade rocking horses. KayAnne loves her tutu. Mommy wanted her to change into her third outfit, but KayAnne had other ideas. KayAnne started to get tired and decided she wanted a nap in her wagon. She fluffed up her tutu as a pillow and lay down. I managed to catch the perfect moment as she looked up at me. After taking a break to let her play, we convinced her to put on her last outfit, a special favorite of Daddy’s. These shots were taken in a lovely grove near the...

Cousin Camp

Cousin Camp

I’ve lived far away from my extended family most of my life, so it was a huge treat to spend time with them at the first annual “Cousin Camp.” All the girls on my Mom’s side of the family that could come gathered at my grandma’s cabin for a weekend of crafts, games, and hanging out.  Some of the girls I got to spend time with I hadn’t seen since they were babies, and some were little enough that I’d never met them before!  I was so glad I brought my camera to capture these special memories.   Uncle Jon and Aunt Allie’s girls Lacy, Avery and Ari:             Aunt Leslie and her girls, HallieKate, Bailey and Lucy:   Bailey made a treasure box that she was very proud of.   Four Generations – Grandma Doreen, Aunt Melanie, cousin Kimberly, and her daughter, Adria.   Aunt Melanie with her grandkids, Brenna and Adria:   Adria–too cute!   Brenna playing outside with the bubbles:     Cousin bonding time!       And, though technically not cousins, they’re still family–Grandma’s dog Rascal and Aunt Melanie’s dog, Toto:...

Ashlee, Heidee and Haylee

I had the opportunity to spend 4th of July weekend with my aunt Bonnie.  Amid fireworks and homemade rootbeer, I took the chance to snap some portraits of her three youngest girls, my cousins, Ashlee (18), Heidee (15) and her twin, Haylee (15).  They’re growing so fast!  Posing was a challenge at times since they were far more interested in talking and giggling, but I liked to watch them interact as sisters.  I hope I managed to capture that bond in some of the candid shots.                    ...

Wright Family

Not long ago my cousin Kimmy Wright contacted me to ask about taking some photos for her daughter Bethani, who just turned two.  Over the course of the discussion we decided it would be way more fun to do a full family shoot. We couldn’t have been more, well, Wright! *rimshot!* Daymon (five), Cori (four) and little Nini certainly gave me a run for my money as they scampered all over the BYU-gardens.  I loved capturing candid moments of these cuties exploring. Our main man, Daymon:       Our little princess, Cori:       Nini, cute as a button:       Exploring:       Mom and Dad:     Fun with Dad:         All together, now! Five years old and Daymon’s already working the GQ pout.     “Auuuuugh! MOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!”...

Visual Media Group Shoot

Visual Media Group Shoot

If getting good portraits of one or two people is challenging, getting a good group photo is astronomically more difficult.  As part of my third and final Professional Imaging excursion, I participated in a group portrait shoot-out.  My group and I were allotted fifteen minutes to organize our class for one full shoot and four smaller sub-group shots, which were arranged in advance.   If these photos are any indication, I still have a lot to learn about staging and shooting group portraits, especially when cooperating with other photographers.        ...

As practice for photo-journalistic style headshots and portraiture Kenna Gurel headed over to Sticks and Stones bike shop to meet with the owner.  We only spent a few minutes with him since we had to run off to our photoexcursion right afterward but I think we got some great shots!  Here are a few of my favorites.  Props to Kenna for helping with the lighting.  ...

LC and James

My beloved sister LC and her fiance James are getting married in July, and I had the honor of doing their engagement photos.  We decided to do the shoot at the local park to reflect their playful and bright personalities. I’ve never had so much fun on a shoot!                             As a little experiment I did a stop-motion cinema of the two using the continuous shooting mode on my camera.  I compiled it on Photoshop. It’s a little fast and the scene would have benefited greatly from a tripod, but it made a for a fun and cute addition to this great shoot....

Annie was the first of the models I had the pleasure to meet at the Sky Mountain Lodge shootout. Her warm personality and classy style made her an absolute joy to shoot. I don’t know many people that can pull off this shade of red, but she really rocked it! I used all natural lighting for these shots and no editing.  ...
