DRAWN TO LIFE | Illustration is my favorite pastime. I am largely self-taught, with my most significant influences coming from the animation industry. My specialty is in character sketches, but when I’m feeling ambitious, I’ll try simple scenery and color. I primarily use Photoshop Elements and a Wacom Graphire tablet. Some of the works shown here are signed with online handles rather than my real name.
Finished Works
I enjoy experimenting with a variety of coloring and lining styles, from noir graphic novel to mixed cel to art nouveau.
Digital Sketches
The majority of my work takes the form of loose concept sketches and studies.
Colored Sketches
Occasionally I’ll want to add color to my sketches without refining the linework. I color all of my sketches in Photoshop, but the lines may be digital or pencil.
Fake Vector Advent Calendar
Two Christmases ago I decided to make an advent calendar for my sister. Each day leading up to Christmas, I sent her a simple illustration of one of her favorite characters. I wanted the art style to be very clean and vector-like, but at the time I didn’t have access to any program that could render vector, so I faked the look in pixels using Photoshop Elements. These are a few of my favorites from the set.
